LANCASTER — State police have arrested a Garrard County man they claim has a part in a string of recent burglaries in Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Casey counties.

David G. Walls, 34, of Lancaster was charged Monday with second-degree burglary and receiving stolen property under $10,000. The arrest came during a marathon of search warrant executions led by Trooper Michael Keeton with help from Lancaster Police Department and the Garrard County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement officers were busy executing search warrants from about 1 p.m. Monday until 2 a.m. Tuesday, Garrard Sheriff Ronnie Wardrip said. Wardrip’s deputies assisted on three search warrant executions.

State police spokesman Chris Lanham said so far at least $9,000 worth of stolen jewelry, televisions and XBox accessories have been recovered from two of the houses searched — one on Cardinal Circle and the other on Roy Walker Davis Road.

More arrests likely

State police are investigating at least seven burglaries in the four-county area, Lanham said. All of the burglaries have occurred within the past week. Police suspect there have been more, unreported burglaries because they recovered additional stolen property that they could not pair up with an owner. Lanham asks anyone who has been a victim of a burglary recently but has not reported it to call state police at (859) 623-2404 or (800) 222-5555.

Police expect at least three more arrests in connection with the burglaries, and more charges are pending against Walls, who was lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail on a $10,000 cash bond as of Tuesday afternoon.

Lanham said other related burglaries are being handled by Lancaster Police Department and Garrard County Sheriff’s Office, but both agencies on Tuesday denied having any related investigations ongoing.

“We’ve got a bunch of burglary cases, but I don’t know if it’s going to tie into what they’re looking into,” Wardrip said. “We’re not sure what they’re (KSP) looking into.”

Lancaster Assistant Police Chief Wanda Shelton said Lancaster officers are handling a rash of car thefts but don’t yet have any reason to believe those to be related in any way to the burglaries.

Lanham said he knows of no connection to recent copper thefts in the Danville area. Police have recovered no copper items in connection with the case.
