Film to be shown Saturday at festival



LOUISVILLE — “Honor in the Valley of Tears” will be shown at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Louisville International Film Festival. The film, which was executive produced and co-written by Boyle County native John A. Ponsoll, will be shown at The Galt House in Louisville. “Honor in the Valley of Tears ” is a feature-length documentary film about Congressional Medal of Honor recipient 1st Sgt. David H. McNerney and the men he trained and led into a bloody yet forgotten battle during the Vietnam War.

Wellness center offering Aqua Zumba



McDowell Wellness Center is offering an Aqua Zumba class that will be lead by one of the top aqua fitness instructors in the world, Joao Regufe, of Portugal.

The class will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10. The cost of the class is $25 per person and class size is limited. To register, or for more information, call McDowell Wellness Center at (859) 936-9355.

Open house planned for candidate



An open house for Lynn Harmon, who is running for Boyle County judge-executive, will be 7-8:30 p.m. today at the home of Benny and Laura Peyton, 104 Independence Court in Colonial Heights.

The public is welcome.

Craft Bazaar planned at extension service



A “Fall Affair” homemakers craft bazaar will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 8 and 9 at the Boyle County Extension Service office, 99 Corporate Drive.

The event will be hosted by the 76ers Homemakers Club. Items for sale will include locally handcrafted items, baked goods, holiday gifts, craft kits and commercial products including Longaberger and Pampered Chef. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local charities. For more information, call (859) 236-1387.

Ham breakfast planned for Saturday



Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 28 at 400 N. Fourth St., will have its monthly country ham breakfast 7-10 a.m. Saturday. The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes country ham, eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, pastries, coffee, milk and orange juice. Everyone is welcome.

KSD plans fundraiser



Friends of KSD will have a yard sale and bake sale fundraiser 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 16 at Kentucky School for the Deaf parking lot at Walker Hall, 301 S. Second St. Funds will be used for basic necessities for deaf and hard of hearing students for classroom materials, equipment and technology for classes K-12.
