Sweet 16th win for Jags

October 06, 2010|By Jonathan Stark | jstark@jessaminejournal.com

Tuesday night was a long and emotional night for the East Jessamine boys’ soccer team. Having already set a record for wins in a season with 12, the Jags said goodbye to 12 seniors with a 3-0 win over Bourbon County. The win was also East’s 16th win of the year as it improved to 16-2-2.

“The flow of the game was very nice; they really settled down and were playing inside their comfort zone tonight,” East coach Tom Morgan said. “They did what this team is capable of doing, and that is letting the ball do the work.”

All three goals came in the first half for the Jags, and the first two came with a senior-only lineup on the pitch.

In the 10th minute, Cameron Miller took a pass from Carter Christensen and put East up 1-0. In the 19th minute, Zach Bray found the net from a few feet out to make it 2-0.

The Jags’ final goal came off the foot of Jarrod Rocco. After some nifty footwork, he pushed it past the goalkeeper for the score.

East closes out the regular season on Thursday night at Oldham County at 7:30 p.m.
