Clark County school principals and students joined with city and county government officials for the reading of a proclamation designating October as College and Career Readiness Month. Winchester Mayor Ed Burtner, middle row, center, read the proclamation. Officials joining Burtner included third from left, middle row, school board member Judy Hicks, state Rep. Don Pasley, County Judge-Executive Henry Branham and Clark County Schools Superintendent Elaine Farris, to the right of Burtner. The goal of the local school system is to ensure that students graduate college or are career-ready. Students are encouraged to wear their favorite college’s colors and jerseys to school on Oct. 27. Students will not be required to wear their school’s dress code clothes if they are dressed in college gear. Teachers, principals and members of the community are also asked to wear their favorite college gear.
