Dear Editor,

Ben Chandler is the poster child for a crumbling Democratic coalition. For generations, his party has survived by cobbling together, on one hand, disparate interest groups, and on the other hand, patriotic Americans whose only remaining connection to the national Democratic Party is a flimsy registration card.

Notice that Chandler never mentions he belongs to the same party as Barack Obama or Nancy Pelosi. He deceptively refers to his vote for the wasteful, failed stimulus package as a vote for the “American Recovery Act.” No mention of his votes to force open homosexuals upon our military, destroy Kentucky jobs with Cap-and-Tax, or the behemoth government takeover of our health care system (Chandler voted “yes” on all procedural votes prior to the final vote on the health care bill).

Of particular significance to all my fellow veterans should be the fact that Ben Chandler actively sought to undermine our servicemen’s efforts in Iraq during the toughest days of that war. A war we eventually won — no thanks to him or his party’s leadership.

If you believe in protecting the lives of innocent children; that Ground Zero is hallowed ground; that the fruits of your labor belong first to you and not to the state; and that our government should be limited by a strict adherence to the Constitution, then how can you (in good conscience) continue to support a party which elevates to power the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid or Chandler?

Make no mistake about it. The only way the Democrat Party’s radical leadership can continue holding on to power is by maintaining the support of some commonsense, conservative Americans who continue to vote for Democrat politicians simply because of tradition.

Well, should tradition trump the lives of innocent human beings? Does tradition weigh more than our children’s future financial well-being? Is tradition more vital to you than our national security?

Want to send a clear message to the out-of-touch Obama White House this November? Nothing could speak louder than for Bluegrass voters to send Ben Chandler packing.
