 Write-in candidates deadline this Friday

Candidates who want to be eligible to have their votes counted as write-in candidates for the upcoming election have until Oct. 22 to file with the appropriate officer.

Eligible write-in candidates who must file with the Office of Secretary of State have until 4 p.m. EST to file their papers, while candidates for offices that file with the local county clerk will have until 4 p.m. local time to complete their filings. If candidates choose to mail their filing papers, the documents must be received in the appropriate office by 4 p.m. on the 22.

Fall Fire Saturday

Winchester First United Methodist Church’s Fall Fire festival will be Saturday at the First Fire campus and the Winchester Plaza parking lot. The free event will include food, inflatables, pony rides, trunk-or-treat, bands, carnival games and prizes.

Soprano to perform Spanish music Oct. 26

The Winchester Music Club will present a night of Spanish music featuring Adriana Lia Moutz, a soprano from Venezuela, who is finishing a doctorate at the University of Kentucky. She teaches voice at Centre College and just came back from singing at an international festival in Spain.

The concert will be at First Presbyterian Church at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26.

Corinth Baptist Church Fall Harvest Gathering

Corinth Baptist Church, 1405 Trapp-Goffs Corner Road, will have its Fall Harvest Gathering Sunday, Oct. 31, from 1 to 5 p.m.

There will be lots of food, fun, games, prizes, a dessert walk and drawings, as well as special music by Mike and Wendy Klave and others.

Trapp meeting Oct. 25

East Kentucky Power Cooperative’s Trapp Community Advisory Group will meet Monday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Smith Station.
