THURSDAY

— Family Game Night at the Jessamine County Public Library will be from 6-8 p.m. Event includes classic board games, Wii, and snacks.

FRIDAY

— Family storytime at the Jessamine County Public Library will be from 10:30-11 a.m. It’s open for kids up to age 5.

SATURDAY

— The Firebird Chamber Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Kristy L. Kirsh, will present a concert at the Clark Chapel of the Wilmore United Methodist Church from 7-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. The ensemble is composed of 12 musicians who will present an evening of music featuring flutes, strings and piano. A reception to meet the performers will follow the concert in the adjoining Grout meeting area. The program is open and free to the public. Donations will be gratefully accepted for the restoration of Clark Chapel, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an anchor in the Wilmore Downtown Renaissance District. This is the first program in a series of five concerts and lectures to be presented in the upcoming months in downtown Wilmore.

— Nicholasville Baptist Church’s youth will hold a yard sale. This event will take place Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tables will be on the Chestnut Street side of the church. If it rains, the event will be moved into the church’s basement. All proceeds go toward the church’s youth. The church is located at 131 S. Main St.

— The Turners will be at True Gospel Tabernacle, located at 201 Jessamine Ave., Oct. 23. The service begins at 7 p.m. The public is invited.

— The Community of Keene will hold a fish fry and homemade bake sale fundraiser from noon to 6 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Lodge in Keene. Music will be provided. Menu includes fish dinners, fish sandwiches, hot dogs/chili dogs, cotton candy, caramel cake, jam cake, butterscotch pie and much more.

— John Branscum, Democratic candidate for Jessamine County jailer, will host a crime-prevention event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lake Mingo.

His campaign will be handing out educational material to parents and children, and the event will also include fun activities.

— Driveway to 5K Training will be held at the Jessamine County Public Library. Participants will meet at City-County Park. For more information, visit www.jesspublib.org.

— Teen Media Swap at the Jessamine County Public Library will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Movies, games, comic books starting to stack up? Bring them to the JCPL and swap them out for other cool media donated by fellow teens.

SUNDAY

— Church of the Savior, 1301 Brannon Road, announces its new “Try The 5s” service times.

Those times are: 8:35 a.m., 10:15 a.m. and 11:55 a.m. Sunday mornings. Children’s ministry and child care are available during each service. On Wednesday evenings, the church meets at 6:45 and breaks into small groups for discipleship studies. The church has many small-group meetings at other times throughout the week as well. MONDAY

— Mother Goose Storytime at the Jessamine County Public Library will be at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25 and Tuesday, Oct. 26.

WEDNESDAY

— Preschool Storytime will take place at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the Jessamine County Public Library.

— Word processing at the Jessamine County Public Library will be held from 6-8 p.m.

UPCOMING EVENTS

— Wilmore’s Treats on Main will be Saturday, Oct. 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. Main Street in Wilmore will be blocked off and businesses/organizations will be open distributing candy. There will be carnival-type games and prizes also. A costume contest will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Pavilion at the Downtown Green, located next to Jessamine Christian Healthcare.

— Spooky Time on Main will take place in downtown Nicholasville Friday, Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. Trick or treating will be on Main Street. At 7 p.m., a Spooky Time Magic Show will be at Central Bank, and Central Bank will present Walt Disney’s PG-rated Hocus Pocus at Dusk. First Street activities include inflatables, face painting, games and pop corn. Main Street from Oak to Chestnut streets will be closed from 5:30-8 p.m.

— St. Luke’s annual craft bazaar will take place Thursday, Nov. 4 from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items include fine crafts, hand-made gift items, candy and baked goods. Lunch and dinner will be served. The event will be at St. Luke Catholic Church on South Main Street.

— The Jessamine County Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 28. The guest speaker will be Bill Ambros, a retired Lexington banker. He will speak about the Riney B. Railroad.

— The Jessamine Senior Citizens Center will host a Halloween costum party at 10:15 a.m. Oct. 29. Andy Bryth will be singing during the event. Games and food will be provided.
