Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I am writing regarding the shameful DSCC-sponsored, Conway-endorsed hit piece on the faith of Rand Paul.

I’ve never been as fired up about writing a letter to the editor as I am now, after having seen this thing on the air a few moments ago. It’s pure “jack.”

Conway’s ad accuses Paul of being involved in a college “secret society” that ties up women and bows down to, and I quote, “Aqua Buddha.” Sounds interesting, after all, every Buddha I’ve ever seen is orange or brown. But this ad isn’t about Buddha. It’s not even about furthering his own chances of being elected United States senator.

No, it’s just a good old hit piece with no facts, the classic toothless shark. But, if Mr. Conway wishes to introduce faith into the campaign, then voters should check the facts about Mr. Conway’s own religious adherence.

Mr. Conway is the epitome of the problem with Catholic politicians these days. Like Pelosi and like Kerry, Conway supports abortion, a practice which the Roman Catholic Church and most every post-modern Christian denomination has opposed very adamantly. Mother Teresa perhaps put is best: “It is a poverty to decide a child must die so you can live as you wish.”

As a faithful Roman Catholic myself, who spent several years discerning religious life in the church, his stance makes me angrier than I can write here. But it doesn’t end there. Like even Rand Paul, Conway supports the death penalty and capital punishment. His attacks on life are not merely rhetoric or accusation, but a matter of record. A record free and available to the voters he will have to face up to in just days.

Conway is free to say as he feels. But when he peddles this junk on the air, just remember — it’s all “jack.”
