Heart of Danville’s trick or treating downtown: 5:30-7 p.m. Saturday.

Stanford Halloween costume contest and parade Saturday evening. Stanford Lions Club will sponsor a costume contest and parade for children 12 years of age and under. Children should be ready to line up at 5:15 p.m. at Patriot Tax Service, 610 E. Main St. The parade will begin at 5:45 p.m. and continue down Main Street to Willys Overland Garage for trick or treating from 6 to 8 p.m. Children will be judged in four categories: scariest, cutest, most original and best decorated kid-powered vehicle. Forkland — An old-fashioned Halloween carnival will be 5-9:30 p.m. Saturday at Forkland Community Center. Events include hay rides, costume contest, cake walk and games. Costume judging will be at 7:30 p.m. Food items include chili, hotdogs and desserts.

The Liberty Ghost Tour runs through Saturday. Two horse-drawn carriage guided tours will embark each night between 7 and 9 p.m. from the city parking lot. Guests will be treated to a history lesson on some of the more sordid events of the city’s past. The cost is $10 per person, and the event is not for children under 10 years old. Proceeds go to the Downtown Theater Restoration project. Reservations may be made by calling city hall at (606) 787-9973. Rain cancels
