Letters to the editor for Oct. 26

October 26, 2010

I have been hearing a radio ad for Dr. Ralph Alvardo, and it says he is a “hometown doctor.” I would like to ask him if he indeed a hometown doctor, why he doesn’t utilize the hometown hospital?

I realize that with certain diagnoses, patients are taken to Lexington hospitals. However just for illnesses that are not major, or that can be treated at Clark Regional, why are they not left here?

If they are taken in by ambulance, and deemed they need to be admitted, then they will have to be transferred to Lexington. This means the patient will have two ambulance bills, and two hospital bills, it seems like this is a burden in theses tough economic times.

Smith for 1st District county commissioner

To the Sun:

Joe McCord and Rick Smith are both honest men with good family backgrounds. But we can only vote for one candidate for commissioner in the 1st District. So we must vote for the most qualified and experienced candidate to lead Clark County to be a working county instead of a suburb of Winchester.

For these reasons, we must vote for Rick Smith for commissioner.
