A Danville woman was killed late Saturday night when the car she was riding in went off US 150 near the Boyle-Lincoln county line.

According to state police, a 1995 Pontiac driven by Rodney Alcorn, 42, of Stanford crashed after 11 p.m. A passenger in the vehicle, Teresa Hoskins, 35, of Danville, was ejected from the vehicle. Lincoln Coroner Farris Marcum said Hoskins was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple blunt force traumas.

Marcum said it appeared the vehicle was westbound toward Danville when Alcorn overcorrected. The vehicle struck a rock wall before flipping several times and landing on its side. Marcum said, neither Alcorn nor Hoskins was wearing a seatbelt, and both were ejected.

Marcum said Hoskins’ 4-year-old daughter, Chelsea Johnson, was a passenger in the car, and another motorist who drove by shortly after the crash saw the child walking in the roadway.

The girl told authorities that she had unbuckled herself and crawled out of the vehicle after the crash, Marcum said.

Both Alcorn and the child were airlifted to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, where Marcum said the girl was expected to be released Sunday after undergoing evaluation overnight.

Alcorn’s condition was listed as fair this morning.

Police believe alcohol was a contributing factor, and charges are pending the results of toxicology tests.

About two hours after the accident occurred, Lincoln County deputies were directing traffic at the scene when a vehicle “ran around several stopped cars and through the roadblock,” according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Charles R. Dotson, 32, faces 16 charges, including driving under the influence and nine counts of wantonly endangering police officers and firefighters, after he allegedly drove around stopped traffic, ignored police demands to stop and drove at a pair of troopers investigating the scene of a late-night fatal car crash.

“The operator of the vehicle disregarded Deputy Thacker’s attempts to stop him and drove directly at the troopers who were taking measurements,” a news release reads. “Both troopers dodged the vehicle as the suspect fled the scene. At least five Lincoln County firefighters were assisting with traffic control and they too had to take evasive action to avoid being struck by the vehicle.”

After running the roadblock, Dotson allegedly rammed a deputy in a marked police car who was pursuing him. Dotson rammed the car “in an attempt to escape,” according to the news release.

Dotson’s other charges include disregarding a traffic officer’s signal, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in his vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing and evading police, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. He is currently being held in the Lincoln County Detention Center without bond.
