Obituary: Mary Cox

FRANKFORT, Ind. — Mary Kathlyn Cox, 96, died Tuesday in Louisville, Ky.
Born June 29,1914, in Frankfort, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Nora Alice (Brant) and Fred K. Goldsberry. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1932 and completed her nursing education at Garfield Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill., and Marion General Hospital School of Nursing in Marion, Ohio. She worked as a nurse at Community Memorial Hospital, Waddell Ladies Home and the Smith Clinic, all in Marion, Ohio, and was a research assistant in the study of leukemia and a Red Cross nurse.
She was the last of her family of seven children. She was married Aug. 31, 1935, in Crown Point, Ind., to Raymond Paul Cox of Rossville, Ind., and he died in January 2002. They were married 66 years.
She was active in the Centenary United Methodist Church, OES, Streamland Homemakers, Ephraim McDowell Hospital auxiliary, Newcomers’ Club and Wissinger Hills Golf Club. She had wintered at Holiday Park in North Port, Fla., for 35 years. Her hobbies were sewing, crafting, volunteer work, bowling, golfing and traveling. She had visited 48 states and two foreign countries.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Ann White (Tom) of New Haven, Ky., and Jacqueline Kay Neat (Kirk) of Taylorsville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Tom Lee, James, Beth Ann and Cathy Lynn; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, Ind. 
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at the funeral home with an OES service beginning at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Bunnell Cemetery, Frankfort, Ind.
