Constituents will have the opportunity to voice their concerns with newly elected state representative Donna Mayfield Thursday evening.
Mayfield will be officially sworn in as District 73 representative Jan. 4, 2011 and said she wants to know the public’s concerns before heading to Frankfort. All residents of District 73, which includes Clark County and the northern part of Madison County, are invited to a town hall meeting at Shoppers Market Thursday at 7 p.m.
“I told people as I was going door-to-door I wanted to have town hall meetings because the voters were clamoring for it,” Mayfield said.
Regular town hall meetings will be held at least quarterly at different locations throughout Clark and Madison counties, Mayfield said.
“Although I haven’t been given a lot of information yet about how to problem-solve, I want to keep it in mind as I go up there (to Frankfort),” Mayfield said.
There is no set agenda for the meeting, and Mayfield said that constituents are free to discuss any concerns they have. She also said she hopes to introduce herself to residents unfamiliar with her campaign platform and background.
