Ware, Morris honorable mention on CJ's All-State Football Teams

Lincoln’s Jericho Ware and Vinny Morris were recognized for their efforts on the gridiron this past season with honorable mention honors on The Courier-Journal’s 2010 All-State Football Teams.
Both Ware and Morris were honored for their defensive work on the field, with Ware, a 6-3, 260-lb. senior, picked as a lineman and Morris, a 6-1, 200-lb. junior, at linebacker.
Ware and Morris were part of the 2010 Lincoln County High School football team which made its reappearance in the postseason playoffs after a three-year absence. While Lincoln finished just 4-7 on the season and out of the spotlight, the effort of the local athletes did not go unnoticed.
“Jericho was respected by a lot of opponents this year,” said Lincoln coach Mike Settles. “His play this past season was game-on and he had many opponents running away from him.”
“He’s one of the top lineman in this area and it’s great to see him recognized by  The Courier-Journal,”
“And Vinny. Vinny deserves any award he gets,” Settles said. “He’s such an unselfish player and he works so hard. He puts the team first all the time. I believe this is just the beginning for Vinny in getting awards for his play.”
According to The Courier-Journal, just one vote separated the top two players in this year’s voting, with Boyle County linebacker Lamar Dawson picking up 56 votes to Ballard wide receiver DeVante Parker’s 55 votes
Dawson, who has not made his college choice, and Parker, who is bound for Louisville, were co-winners of the Paul Hornung Award as the state’s top player.
Dawson and Parker were two of five repeat players on the 24-member All-State First Time.
The other three repeating were Bell County linebacker John Dudley Hilton, Scott County punter Jay Wilmott and Lexington Christian offensive lineman Zach West. Hilton finished third in the overall voting with 32 votes.
Each coach in the state was asked to vote for the best players they had seen at each position, and they could not vote for their own players. Each coach submitted one ballot choosing all 24 positions.
