A Harrodsburg police officer’s attempt at a routine traffic stop turned into a short chase and ended in an arrest Thursday night.
The officer attempted to pull over a driver who failed to dim his bright headlights about 8:30 p.m, according to a press release.
Juaqua Beasley, 23, first sped away from the officer, then stopped his car, got out and ran into a field near Beaumont Avenue and U.S. 127 South. The officer chased Beasley into the field but lost him.
With the help of a Versailles Police Department K-9, the officer found Beasley hiding in the field with marijuana and “a large amount of cash,” according to the release.
Beasley was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, fleeing and evading police, and failure to dim headlights.
He was booked at the Boyle County Detention Center.
