Local churches can now broadcast live on the Internet

January 19, 2011|Journal staff report | news@jessaminejournal.com

Advocate Communications Inc., the parent company for The Jessamine Journal, has created a new program that will allow churches to broadcast their services live or on demand.

By broadcasting services (and other church events), pastors will be able to make sure parishioners can stay in touch when they can’t make it to the church in person.

“We think it’s the perfect solution for churches with overseas missions, members in the military, shut-ins, college students and snow-birders,” Digital Media Manager John Preston said. “Churches will also be able to offer their members another invaluable service. The high cost of travel nowadays often prevents far-away friends and family members from making it to special occasions. With this program, churches can now stream weddings, baptisms, and even funerals live over the Internet.”

The system will also allow pastors to post daily devotionals to offer their congregations words of inspiration and praise.
