January 20, 2011|By Fred Petke | The Winchester Sun

Amonth after police were in the right place to catch a suspected robber at the scene, two other people were charged with discussing the plans for the robbery.

On Dec. 4, 2010, a man walked into the BP station near Rolling Hills Lane and demanded money from the employees before fleeing on foot. A Winchester Police officer in the area on routine patrol spotted a man, later identified as Stewart Williams, running away and captured him after a brief foot pursuit.

Officer Chris Cantor said there was a Dodge pickup truck at the scene that nearly struck him as he chased Williams from the scene. Officers later located the truck in Clark County, but the people inside were not located.

On Tuesday, Winchester Police charged 24-year-old Brittany Strange and 45-year-old Steven V. Goff, both of 3657 Van Meter Road, with complicity to first-degree robbery. Strange was additionally charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.

According to court documents, Strange and Goff were both in the vehicle with Williams immediately prior to the robbery. According to the arrest citation, Strange told police she drove Williams to the BP, but she drove away once she saw police vehicles and emergency lights.

Both pleaded not guilty Wednesday afternoon in Clark District Court and will have a preliminary hearing Jan. 26. Both are being held on a $10,000 bond in the Clark County Detention Center.
