BP robbery cases: Strange waives, Goff postpones

January 27, 2011|By Fred Petke | The Winchester Sun

One of the two alleged accomplices in a December BP robbery wanted another week before his preliminary hearing. The other decided Wednesday to send her case straight to the grand jury.

Brittany Strange, 24, and Steven V. Goff, 45, both of 3657 Van Meter Road, were arrested last week and charged with complicity to first-degree robbery for the Dec. 4, 2010 robbery.

Winchester Police arrested Stewart Williams at the scene moments after the robbery was reported.

Winchester Police Officer Chris Cantor said there was at least one person in a pickup truck that nearly hit him while he was pursuing Williams. Officers later located the vehicle in Clark County, but made no arrests until last week.

Strange is also charged with first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly driving the truck and nearly hitting Cantor. Police believe all three were in the truck before the robbery and had discussed the robbery.

Strange decided to waive her case to the grand jury without a preliminary hearing. Goff, though, asked for his hearing to be postponed for a week.
