Shimfessel to preach at Dunaway UMC
The Rev. Harold Shimfessel will be the guest preacher at Dunaway United Methodist Church, 11840 Irvine Road, each Sunday through Feb. 27.
He will be preaching a series of sermons on the “Words of Jesus on the Cross.”

First Fire offers Souper Saturday
First Fire, a ministry of Winchester First United Methodist Church, is offering Souper Saturday — a free soup dinner — the first and third Saturday of each month, at 6:45 p.m. at its Winchester Plaza campus (where the old Dawahare’s store was).
The dinner follows the 5:22 p.m. church service in the same building and includes soup, sandwiches and drinks.
People have also been donating coats, gloves, scarves and other clothes, as well as toys, and those who need them can take what they want.

Life Hurts, God Heals group meets Thursdays
Life Hurts, God Heals, group for teenagers who have experienced pain related to troubled family dynamics, depression, drinking, drugs, cutting, pornography, eating disorders, anger and other issues, meets at Calvary Christian Church, 7-9 p.m. on Thursdays Feb. 17-May 26. It is for youth ages 12-23 and based on the eight Beatitudes.
