A man charged with robbing motels in Danville has been charged with robberies in Nicholasville as well.

Justin K. Elliott, 21, of Nicholasville, was arrested overnight Monday in Boyle County after an armed robbery at Country Hearth Inn.

He faces three counts of armed robbery from Nicholasville police and four robbery charges from Danville police.

Nicholasville police officer Scott Harvey said cooperation between the departments paid off.

“The description was similar, so we started talking with Lexington,” Harvey said. “Danville was kind of brought into it (Monday) night when our agency had Elliott under surveillance, and we followed him into Danville, and we always notify agencies when we cross jurisdictional lines to let them know what we’re doing.”

Police believe Elliott robbed the BP station on Etter Drive in Nicholasville on Jan. 18, Eli’s Shell station on Etter Drive on Jan. 22, both at knifepoint, and the Shell station on Elizabeth Drive at gunpoint on Jan. 28.
Late Monday night, while under surveillance, Elliott allegedly tried to rob  the Country Hearth Inn in Danville, and police moved in.

The four Danville robberies in which Elliott allegedly was involved occurred at Brookcove Center on Jan. 27, Comfort Suites on Jan. 31, Super 8 on Feb. 1, and Country Hearth Inn Tuesday morning.

Late Monday night, witnesses said a white male armed with a small handgun entered the Country Hearth Inn, demanded money from the clerk and fled in a black passenger car toward Rally’s on the Danville bypass.

Officers stopped Elliott’s car at the intersection of the bypass and Denmark Drive and took him into custody without incident, according to a Danville police news release.

Police found money from the robbery and a weapon in Elliott’s car and transported him to the police station for questioning by detectives from various agencies. Police also found a job application for the Danville Police Department.

Boyle Sheriff Marty Elliott said Justin Elliott had applied for a position with the Boyle County Sheriff's Office and had been interviewed by Marty Elliott over the phone and Chief Deputy Jimmy Wilcher in person in January.

Tammy Durham with Jessamine County 911 said Justin Elliott was a Jessamine 911 dispatcher from 2008 to 2010.

Police said after he confessed to his involvement, Justin Elliott was lodged in the Boyle County Detention Center on charges from the four Danville robberies.
