LEXINGTON (AP) — Kentucky coach Eddie Sutton wants it to be a sure thing for his 11-ranked Wildcats before he starts celebrating a 38th Southeastern Conference basketball championship. Kentucky improved to 12-1 in SEC play and 21-3 overall Thursday night when it nipped second-place Alabama, 73-71.

The George Rogers Clark Cardinal freshman team downed Montgomery County 41-35 Thursday in Mount Sterling and won the right to represent the 40th District in the 10th Region freshman tournament next week in Maysville.

Propane from a forklift ignited inside the trailer of a Leggett and Platt semi truck this morning, burning two men and peeling the roof off the semi. The explosion occurred while the truck was backed into a loading area at Winchester Feeds Inc., East Broadway.
