Police are looking for a person who allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from a Burgin home last Thursday.

Burgin Police Chief Jim Caldwell said the the burglar took more than $5,600 worth of jewelry including a class ring and Pandora bracelets from the home of Jerry Lee and Kristin Winchester.

“Suspects were apparently specifically after jewelry, because they left many other valuable items lying around,” Caldwell said.

Those items included a digital camera, TV set and jar full of cash.

“They literally just went to the jewelry boxes and left,” he said.

Police are still looking for suspects and ask anyone with information to call the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office (859) 734-4221 or Burgin Police (859) 748-5220.
