GRC students make All-State orchestra
On Feb. 12, George Rogers Clark High School seniors Blake Combs and Chris Griffith played in the KMEA All-State Commonwealth Orchestra at the Kentucky Center in Louisville.
The conductor was Richard Auldon Clark from Butler Symphony Orchestra, one of the youngest conductors to appear at Carnegie Hall.
They played selections from various composers, including a special medley of songs from “West Side Story” by Leonard Bernstein.
Blake Combs plays violin, and Chris Griffith plays string bass.
This was Chris Griffith’s fourth appearance at All-State.
Marmo inducted into BCTC honor society
Phillip Ray Marmo of Winchester was recently inducted into the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Phi Theta Kappa honor society. To be in PTK, students must achieve a 3.7 GPA with a minimum of 18 credit hours.
