Nicholasville police arrested a quartet on first-degree burglary charges on March 31 at 100 Ross St.

According to arrest reports, Jeffrey C. Mitchell, 24, whose address was listed as the Holiday Inn Express in Nicholasville; Patrick G. Poore, 40, 2274 W. Wilderness Way, Baldwin, Mich.; Joel Vega, 35, 82 Andover St., Ludlow, Vt.; and Robert M. Biven, 40, 751 Kirtland St. SW, Grand Rapids, Mich., forced their way into the home shortly after midnight.

“They came to this house to supposedly collect some money, and in the process, they kicked the door in of the house, knocking the female inside the house down, and they assaulted the male that was inside the home,” Sgt. Scott Harvey said. “They left visible injuries on his face, but nothing severe.”

Harvey said after officers left the scene, the unnamed male sought treatment for abdominal pain.

Harvey said the four people left the scene but were quickly pulled over.

“We pulled on the scene just as the carload of four people was leaving, and Sgt. (Michael) Fleming pulled the car over, and after the investigation, they ended up charging the people with burglary first and the driver (Poore) of the vehicle with DUI.”

All four cases have been turned over to a Jessamine County grand jury. Poore, Vega and Mitchell are being lodged in the Jessamine County Detention Center on $25,000 full-cash bonds. Bivens posted bail, according to jail officials.
