Prep Track & Field: Mercer boys second, Danville teams third at all-comers meet

The Mercer County boys finished second and Danville’s boys and girls were third in their respective divisions in an all-comers meet Tuesday at Admiral Stadium.
Michael Ross of Danville and Alex Beckerson of Burgin won two events each.
Ross, competing for the first time this season, won the boys long jump and triple jump.
“We’re glad he’s back. He’ll probably move straight to No. 1 in Class A in the long jump and triple jump,” Danville coach Chris Verhoven.
Beckerson won the boys 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs.
Danville’s Max Ray won the boys 110 hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.9 seconds.
The Danville girls won the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
“It was nice to finally have a warm night to run,” Verhoven said. “There haven’t been too many track meets that we’ve completed this year due to weather conditions.”
