Nicholasville police arrested a Harrodsburg man in connection with two armed robberies that occurred in August and September 2010. Michael Allen Destefano, 57, was taken into custody Wednesday night in Harrodsburg by Nicholasville police detectives, and he was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery.
Nicholasville police Sgt. Scott Harvey said the arrest was the result of good police work, and community help.
“It was a combination of things; the detectives rattled the bushes in the appropriate places, and finally, somebody that knew something came forward and gave us the information we needed,” he said. “It was kind of an anonymous tip-type situation.”
Nicholasville Police Chief Barry Waldrop echoed what Harvey said.
“I am really proud of our detectives in this case,” he said. “It is not every day that you get to make an arrest in a case that is this old. They never gave up, and their hard work got this suspect off the street.”
