Prep Track and Field: Mercer Boys, Boyle girls third at Tates Creek

LEXINGTON — The Mercer County boys and Boyle County girls each took third Saturday at the Tates Creek Invitational.

The Boyle girls won three events and finished with 79 points, while Bryan Station won with 103 points.

Bryan Station also won the boys title, finishing with 134 points, while the Titans had one win and scored 52 points.

For Boyle, the team of Logan Arnold, Tabitha Evans, Kate Carman and Natalie Settle won the 1,600-meter relay and Arnold, Rachel Ditto, Nikki Coffey and Maddie Kriz won the 3,200 relay. Settle also added a win in the 300 hurdles and was third in the 300 hurdles. The Boyle team of Settle, Katie Lester, Carman and Arnold finished second in the 800 relay. Mercer’s Tayler Lowe was second in the girls high jump.

For the Mercer boys, the team of Isaiah Burrus, Landon Souder, Anthony Smith and Dean Tyler won the 3,200 relay. Souder was second in the 400, Mercer’s Darion Lewis was second in the triple jump and Boyle’s Cody Cooper was second in the high jump.

Warrior Invitational

At Somerset, the Casey County girls and boys each finished fourth at the Warrior Invitational at Southwestern.

Casey’s Shelby Stringer won the pole vault, Kaitlyn Carmicle won the 100 hurdles and B.J. Hogue took second in the shot put and discus. The team of Carmicle, Jasmine Johnson, Tiara Cochran and Lakken Miller placed second in the 80 relay.

On the boys’ side, Zach Hill of Lincoln County won the high jump, Harley Matlock was second in the 100, while Casey’s Jordan Ellison took second in the pole vault.

The Pulaski County boys and Rockcastle County girls each took home the team titles.
