Benefit fish fry set

LIBERTY — A benefit fish fry will be held for Howard Thompson 5-8 p.m. Friday at The Village Restaurant. In addition to the fish fry, a live and silent auction will be held. For more information, call Donna Rigney at (606) 787-6085.

Garrard County Earth Day Celebration

Garrard County plans an Earth Day celebration 10 a.m.-p.m. Saturday at the Garrard County Fairgrounds. The event is free and will feature more than 40 booths and various entertainment.

Adult spelling bee planned

LIBERTY — An adult spelling bee will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Casey County Middle School. Trophies and gas cards will be awarded to the winners. The registration fee is $10, and participants must be 21 to enter. The event is sponsored by Monticello Banking Co. and Casey County Community Education. Wellness center offering 5K training

McDowell Wellness Center is offering a 5K race preparation program to help anyone interested in running a race begin training.
An informational meeting will be 5:30 p.m. May 5 at the wellness center. The training program begins May 12 and will continue for 13 weeks. The program will focus on training tips, nutritional information and strength training. Training sessions will be  5:30 each Thursday  and 9 a.m. each Saturday.

Meetings

Lincoln County Board of Adjustments — 1 p.m. May 11, at the Lincoln County Courthouse, second floor courtroom. The agenda includes a public hearing for a conditional use permit application requested by Roselene Denney for property at 6895 Ky. 643, Crab Orchard, for a third dwelling on a 29-acre farm. The property is zoned Agricultural-1 and currently has a singlewide manufactured home and a doublewide manufactured home on it.
