Mercer County scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday to rally past No. 18 Woodford County for a 9-8 win on the Titans’ senior night.
”It was great for our seniors to have a night like tonight,” Mercer coach Jeremy Shope said. “But we started out rough.”
The Yellow Jackets (19-6) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three inning before the Titans started to get going.
It was an 8-4 game going into the bottom of the seventh. The Titans (17-9) got singles from Addam Gooch, Austin Horn, John Ingram and a double from Clay Cinnamon during their rally, and they won it on a Woodford throwing error that allowed the final run to score.
Cinnamon had a pair of home runs for Mercer, Matthew Honchel homered and Colin Buckner doubled.
