Rob Caudill struck out eight batters and walked only one in a complete-game victory Tuesday, leading Danville to a 3-2 win over visiting Wayne County.
“Rob pitched well. It was the first time he had been on the mound in about nine days, so it was good to get him out there and get some work in,”¿Danville coach Paul Morse said.
Caudill (8-2) allowed one earned run in the fourth inning, when Wayne had back-to-back hits and led 1-0. Danville (23-7) scored twice in the bottom of the fourth, Wayne (15-13) tied it with a run in the sixth and the Admirals got a run in the bottom of the seventh to win it.
Burgin 14, Frankfort 4 — At Frankfort, Cody Ward went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and scored twice to lead the Bulldogs (3-19) to a six-inning rout of Frankfort (5-15).
Burgin put up 12 runs in the top of the third inning to break a 1-1 tie.
Hunter Harrison was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Devan Lay and Austin Shewmaker each drove in three runs and scored twice and Jared Robbins drove in one run and scored another for the Bulldogs.
Robbins got the win on the mound, striking out eight and walking three.
