Father Paul Korir, a visiting priest at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, has recently graduated with a master’s degree from Asbury University in Wilmore, and will soon be leaving the Winchester church.

Korir, from the Anglican church of Kenya in East Africa, has been involved, not only with Emmanuel, but also with other Episcopal churches in the Bluegrass region, and has been part of a cooperative ministry between the Diocese of Lexington and the Diocese of Eldoret, Kenya.

Mother Melanie Mudge, the rector of Emmanuel, spent time in Kenya last summer.

On Sunday, May 22, beginning at 5 p.m., Emmanuel will have a celebration of the Kentucky-Kenya ministry, and of Korir’s graduation and service. It also will be a fundraiser for the ministry, and will include happy hour, an Italian dinner and silent auction.

The cost for the event is a donation in the amount guests would spend for a nice evening out.
