Edge Motorsports business opens on Industry Parkway

At age 12, Kevin Napier got a 1979 Camaro. Only recently did he have time to start working to restore it, but it was a main reason he was encouraged to start his own auto-repair business.

“That’s one of the main things that got me into it, that car. I worked on it with my dad for a while, and it got a little rough, so we decided to fully pull it apart and just start from scratch and go from there,” he said.

Napier opened Edge Motorsports at 235 Industry Parkway Suite D in Nicholasville on April 29. The business celebrated its grand opening at the AmStar movie theater, coinciding with the opening of the movie “Fast Five.”

“I’ve been working on cars since I was 12,” Napier said. “I was recently laid off ... I thought it was a good time to start my own business, that way I don’t have to worry about being laid off, and it seemed like a good decision.”

Edge Motorsports does general repairs on any make and model of car but is also looking to broaden its business, including car restorations.

“We’re also trying to get into performance, doing custom engines and remote starts,” Napier said.

The owner said what sets his business apart from others is attention to detail.

“We like to make sure our shop’s clean. We try to take care of cars like people would take care of their own; we treat everybody’s cars the same way, make sure the paint doesn’t get scratched,” Napier said. “Every time we take something off, we clean it and try to make sure it looks like a new part instead of leaving the old grease on there. I think that’s an important feature.”
