Rabies clinic planned
Boyle County Health Department will sponsor a rabies vaccination clinic for dogs and cats with a $5 fee per animal. Dogs should be on leashes, and cats should be in boxes.
The schedule is:
10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the health department, 448 S. Third St. Jeanne Gipson will be the veterinarian.
6-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Junction City Park. Stephanie Raispis will be the veterinarian.
6-7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at the Boyle County Fairgrounds. Carolyn Croshaw will be the veterinarian.
Relay for Life benefit at Sonic
Commonwealth Cancer Center and Sonic are teaming up to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Staff from CCC will be car-hopping 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Sonic, 101 Baughman Ave., to raise funds for the center’s ACS Relay for Life team.
Sportsman’s club plans banquet
Cedar Creek Sportsman’s Club Spring Banquet will be Saturday. The meal served at 6 p.m. includes grilled pork loin, baked beans, potato wedges, cole slaw and homemade desserts.
The cost is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 6 to 12 years old and 5 and under free.
Other activities include gun raffles, auction, door prizes, etc., beginning at 5 p.m.
A commissioner elk tag will be raffled, which allows holders to hunt anywhere in the 16 county restoration zone with a weapon of their choice for a bull or cow.
GABBF picnic tables still available
Picnic tables for the Great American Brass Band Festival are still available. Tables seat eight and are $175. Table donations are tax deductible. The picnic is Saturday, June 11, starting at 5 p.m. For information, call Pat at (859) 236-7000 or (859) 516-4600.
Bate middle plans free jazz camp
Bate Middle School will be hosting a free Jazz Band Camp 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Bate Middle for any jazz instrumentalist in grades 6-12. Lunch is included.
Students will begin each morning in master classes with some of the area’s best jazz clinicians, including Raleigh Dailey, Jack Covell, John Pope, Rick Cook and John Hedger.
