Three GRC students win HOBY awards

June 08, 2011

Genna Petrey, Haley Tye and Dalton Gallenstein were selected from their sophomore class at George Rogers Clark High School to receive the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Award.
They joined more than 200 other sophomore leaders, representing many high schools throughout Kentucky, at Transylvania University from June 2-5 for the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar.
During this seminar, they interacted with distinguished leaders in business, government, education and other professions to discuss present and future issues.  They also participated in a college admissions fair, an amazing race challenge and undertook many different service projects.
The HOBY ambassadors are challenged to return to their communities to perform at least 100 hours of community service within 12 months and return as alumni leaders next year.
The theme of this year’s seminar was “Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things.”
