A former Winchester High School basketball coach and teacher has been named head basketball coach and physical education instructor at Centre College, Danville. He is Alex W. Stevens, 33, who has coached the Danville Admirals basketball team during the past year. Stevens resigned his position here a year ago after the merger of the city and county schools.

George A. Conkwright, Winchester road contractor, was low bidder Friday on a bridge repair job in Letcher County, according to the Kentucky Department of Highways. Conkwright’s bid was $22,452.18 for repairs to the North Fork of the Kentucky River bridge.

Clarence Partin, formerly a student at Hickman and St. Agatha Academy, Saturday received a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts at Eastern Michigan University. He is the nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Brassfield of Winchester. Partin, who minored in mathematics, has accepted a position with the Dearborn, Mich., school system.
