James “Arlis” Stidham, 84, of Morgan County, widower of Hazel Nickels Stidham, passed away Saturday at the Fountain Circle Health and Rehabilitation Center.
A native of Wolfe County, he was born Jan. 22, 1927, to the late George and Nettey Sally Stidham.
He was a retired farmer and member of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Eddie (Elsie) Stidham of Mount Sterling, Elmer (Goldie) Stidham of Winchester, Ramona (James) Miller of Lancaster, Shirley (Larry) Shifflet of Winchester, George Stidham of Winchester, Steve (Debbie) Stidham of Winchester, David (Lois) Stidham of Winchester, Brenda (Danny) Croucher of London, John (Linda) Stidham of Winchester, and Bobby (Chasity) Stidham of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, Orville Stidham of Ohio; two sisters, Lena Barnnett of Campton and Devona Estern of Camel City; 38 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Stidham.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., with the Rev. Jonathan Taylor officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
Burial will be in the Westbend Cemetery in Powell County, with sons serving as pallbearers and grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers.
