SHELBYVILLE — Donna Barrick Bridge, 88, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at her residence.
A native of Gravel Switch in Marion County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Willard E. and Beulah Lee Snawder Barrick. A retired employee of both federal and state governments, she began her working career during World War II in Washington, D.C., under General Omar Bradley, where she met her future husband, the late William J. Bridge Sr. In later years, she worked during tobacco sales at the old Globe Tobacco Warehouses in Shelbyville. In addition to her career, she was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville where she was in the WMU, Young at Heart, and the Hannah Sunday School Class. Her memberships also included the Homemakers and the Quilting Club.
Survivors include her son, William J. Bridge Jr. of Lexington; her daughter; Shawn Lee Ford of Crestwood; her sister, June Wright Ervin of Lebanon; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville with the Rev. Kevin Pearce and Dr. Geoffrey McGillen officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to time of services Saturday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home.
