Linville Puckett to be Rotary speaker

Clark County sports legend Linville Puckett, who led the Cardinals to a 69-44 victory over Cuba for the Kentucky State Basketball Championship in 1951, will be the speaker at the Rotary Club luncheon at noon Friday at the Winchester Country Club.
Jim Woodrum, the program chairman, will introduce the guest.

Groups getting ready for 2011 Readifest

The Family Resource and Youth Services Centers are finalizing their list of local agencies for the annual Back to School Readifest. It is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at College Park.  
Organizers are expecting up to 500 students this year.
Groups that intend to participate should call Eva Miller, family resources coordinator for Central and Conkwright schools, at 744-1369 and leave a message.

Brooks Place official to speak to Kiwanis

Linda Winburn of Rose Mary C. Brooks Place will speak to the Winchester Kiwanis Club Wednesday on the need for assisted living care for an aging population. The luncheon will be at Taste of China. Jack Jones will be the program chairman.
