John Thompson Scott

John Thompson Scott, 87, of Junction City died Friday.  
Born Sept. 22, 1923, in Grenock, Scotland, he was the son of John and Mary Kelly Scott. Following his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, John graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He taught math at Oklahoma State to returning veterans.  
He was a past Master of Newburg Lodge #379, Cleveland, Ohio, a member of the Franklin Lodge F. & A.M. # 28 and a former member of the Oleika Shrine Temple. John was a member of the Junction City United Methodist Church. He retired from the Danville Police Department.
John is survived by his wife, Marie Trayner Scott; three sisters, Nancy Gibbons and Mary (David) Spence both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Lucille Wallace of Lynfield, Mass.; two brothers, Clyde (Aline) Scott and Kenneth (Rita) Scott, both of Columbus, Ohio; 13 nieces; five nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Stith Funeral Home and Family Center, Junction City. Rev. Dan Wells will officiate. Burial will be in the Junction City Cemetery.  
Pallbearers will be Ken Gilbert, Troy Willeke, Kevin Scott, Douglas Scott, Willard “Bud” Trayner, Tom Combs, Gary Qualls, and Joseph Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Junction City United Methodist Church.  
Visitation will be after 5 p.m., Monday at the Stith Funeral Home, Junction City.
