School councils to meet today

Two school-based decision-making councils have scheduled meetings for this afternoon.
Conkwright Middle School will hold its regular council meeting at 5 p.m. in the school’s library.
Strode Station Elementary’s council will hold a special called meeting at 4 in its school library.

Columbia to speak at Rotary Club luncheon

Paul Columbia, head coach of the George Rogers Clark High School football team, will be the speaker at this week’s Winchester Rotary Club luncheon at noon Friday at the Country Club.
He will be introduced by the program chairman, Conard Young.

George Rogers Clark Class of 1981 reunion set for Oct. 15

The George Rogers Clark Class of 1981 reunion will be Oct. 15 at the Winchester Country Club. The cost is $50 per couple and $30 for singles.

Rumpke collections will be done earlier

MOUNT STERLING — Because of the excessive heat, Rumpke of Kentucky is making adjustments to its service schedule through July 30. To help drivers complete their route before the hottest part of the day, they will start their day an hour earlier, at 3:30 a.m.
Residents are reminded to place their garbage out at the curb the night before, to ensure it is collected.
