Lancaster humane society gets $1,000

The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Foundation announced Tuesday six winners of its Animal Shelter Assistance program, including Central Kentucky Regional Humane Society in Lancaster and the Marion County Animal Shelter in Lebanon.

The Lancaster humane society will receive $1,000, which will be used to secure a green space behind the society’s shelter, providing a supervised running area for dogs.

The Marion County Animal Shelter will receive $500 to replace outdated computer equipment and an additional $250.

Other recipients include Barren River Animal Welfare Association in Glasgow ($500), Sylvia’s Animal Sanctuary Inc. in Owingsville ($1,000), Flora Shropshire Animal Shelter in Cynthiana ($1,000) and Paris Animal Welfare Society ($1,000).

Meetings

EDP Board of Directors — 8 a.m. Wednesday at Centre College, in the Isaac Shelby Room, second floor, Old Centre. The Centre College administration has requested that EDP board members, staff and visitors not park in the small visitors parking lot adjacent to Old Centre and the admissions office. Parking is available in the visitor parking lots behind Bingham Hall or Horky House across Maple Avenue from Old Centre.

McKinney Area Rescue Squad open house — noon-5 p.m. Saturday at the rescue squad building, 3305 Ky. 198, McKinney. There will be games, food and cold drinks. Vehicles and equipment will be on display and squad members will demonstrate and explain how they are used.
