The Clark County Fiscal Court approved first reading of an ordinance setting the compensating property tax rate at 8.8 cents, keeping the rate the same as this year’s and deciding against a 4 percent increase.
The 4 percent increase would have equalled 9.1 cents per $100 of property value.
The Library Board, Health Department and Extension Service also have to establish their tax rates before final adoption of the Fiscal Court’s tax ordinance.
The court tentatively approved the 2011-12 fiscal year budget based on the compensating rate. The total budget amount is $13,800,106.
The second reading of the ordinance will be at the court’s Aug. 24 meeting.
