Prep Profile: GRC Cheerleaders

Coach: Amy Madsen, first season. Madsen takes over for longtime coaches Ruth Thornberry and Nella Payne. Madsen has “coached off and on for 20 years at other schools.” “I’m excited and honored to be coaching the GRC¿varsity cheerleading team. I plan to continue and expand the rich tradition Miss Ruthie and Nella Payne built at GRC,” she said.
Top returnees: Seniors Makenzie Waltermire, Sabra Israel, Adaisha Skinner, Kaelin Flynn and Emma LeMaster.
Outlook: Madsen said it will be an “interesting year” with the transition to a new coach, but is looking forward to the season. “The varsity team has 27 super-talented girls. It will be a special year.” Madsen said the team’s two top priorities are “cheering for the sports teams at GRC¿and competing on the local, state and national level.” “These girls love the sports teams at GRC¿and are prepared to cheer them on to victory each week,” she said.
