PERRYVILLE — Joyce Arnold Casey, 80, of Perryville, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, in Lexington. She was the widow of Robert H. Casey Jr.
Born Sept. 26, 1930, in Boyle County, she was a daughter of the late Walden and Mary Logue Arnold. Joyce was a retired employee of Cricketeer in Harrodsburg. She was a member of Perryville Baptist Church where she was church secretary for many years.
Joyce was an avid University of Kentucky sports fan. Some years back during March Madness, when Kentucky was playing, Joyce, her family and a few friends enjoyed getting together for potluck and cheering on the Cats. Joyce looked forward to Red Hats every month and spending time with her fellow Red Hat friends. She loved playing Rook, and in recent years she has been playing with a group at the Boyle County Senior Citizens Center.
The Senior Citizen Center, the staff and members of the center were a big part of her life. Joyce also enjoyed having and going to yard sales. She had been a very active member of the Perryville Battlefield Unit 301, American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda and her husband Robby Mayes of Perryville and Cissy Sandford of Lexington; three grandchildren, Michael and his wife Amy Mayes, Matthew Mayes and Ashley and her husband Jerry Menfee; and three great-grandchildren, Jordon, Myah and Jaeda Menfee. Also Joyce leaves behind a special couple, Patsy and James Jenkins, who adopted her as their friend. The family is very appreciative for all they have done for her.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Casey Sandford, and a sister, Bonnie Gorley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wilder Funeral Home by the Revs. Doug Davis and Johnna Mansuetto, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold Logue, Jackie Casey, Robert Overstreet, Alec Russell, Randall Riley and Johnny Harmon.
Visiting hours will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
