After hanging with Lexington Catholic in a 1-0 match for 60 minutes, the Lady Knights’ attack finally became too much for East Jessamine, and the Lady Jags fell 5-0 on Monday.
After some early chances against Catholic, East was almost constantly on the defensive, and the defense held.
The Lady Knights didn’t pick up their first goal until the 33rd minute, when a shot from about 60 feet out cleared Courtney Griffith’s outstretched hand.
“When you play a quality ball club like Lexington Catholic, you know they’re going to get a lot of opportunities,” East coach DeAngelo Wiser said. “I felt like we did a good job of defending, in one half for quite a while and they had some good shots on goal, but I thought our kids stepped up to the opportunity.”
East continued to hold and play good defense into the second half. In the 60th minute, Catholic struck again, this time heading in a corner kick to take a 2-0 lead.
