Clark County Extension Office and Sekisui S-Lec are excited to announce that through our combined efforts, a new walking trail has been established adjacent to the Extension Office located in the Industrial Park.
This walking trail is one-eighth of a mile in length, with eight trips around making a mile walk. Along the trail, two butterfly gardens have been established. Future plans include labeling of plants so that walkers can identify native species and those plants that attract butterflies.
Other future plans include installing rain gardens that will help control water run-off. Information stations also will be established in these areas so walkers can learn how rain gardens work.
Now, we need your help. We need to name our walking trail. The Clark County Extension Office is inviting the public to submit names for our walking trail.
You can call our office at 744-4682 and give your suggestion, you can email us at DL_CES_Clark@email.uky.edu, or you can complete a form that will be available during our Second Sunday event. The deadline for name submissions will be Thursday, Oct. 13. The selected name — along with who submitted it — will be announced in this weekly column. Keep in mind the name of the trail will be posted in both English and Japanese.
Don’t forget the Second Sunday event this Sunday, Oct. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the Winchester Traveling Trail. Events include a cornhole game, Zumba, yoga, hula hoop contest, geocatching, disc golf, sack races and more! Be there. Be healthy.
