Cattlemen’s Association running annual membership drive

LANCASTER¿— The Garrard County Cattlemen’s Association is running its annual membership drive, providing information about joining the association.

Yearly dues are $30, with $20 going toward membership dues with the state association, and the remaining $10 paying for county membership dues.  Affiliation with the state association requires that every member of the county association also is a member of the state association.

Non-members interested in joining the Garrard chapter can attend the annual dinner meeting 6:30 p.m. Nov. 3 in the First Southern National Bank community room in Lancaster. Non-members can pay the 2012 dues of $30 at the door.

For reservations or more information, call the Garrard County Extension Service Office at (859) 792-3026 by Oct. 31.

Community organization to discuss needs of low-income families

The Blue Grass Community Action Agency will hold a public meeting to discuss the needs of low-income families in Boyle County 10 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Blue Grass Community Action office, 225 W. Garrard County 2011 Farm-City Banquet

The annual Garrard County Farm-City Banquet will be 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday in the Garrard County High School cafeteria, 599 Industry Road.

Kentucky Colonel Michael Masters, the “Host of Kentucky,” will be the guest speaker. He is the author of “Hospitality Kentucky Style” and will host the event with a flare of Kentucky hospitality and a celebration of the community, commerce, agriculture and leadership.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. with award presentations starting at 8:30 p.m. Tickets will be on sale at the door Thursday for $25 per person. Tickets can be bought in advance for $20 per person. Coker to speak at free event for Boyle chamber members

The Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce will host author and speaker Greg Coker at the first of its new free membership meetings 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at old Carnegie in Centre College. Admission is free to chamber members.

Coker will talk about his book, “Building Cathedrals: The Power of Purpose.”
