Prep Cross Country: Danville's Snapp wins at KTCCCA Meet of Champions

Kaitlin Snapp of Danville won the girls senior race Saturday in the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Association Meet of Champions in Lexington.
Snapp won her division in the meet at Masterson Station Park, which is divided into runners’ classes.
Madeline Salinas was eighth and Diamond Pace, running only her fourth meet of the season, was 19th.
Chase Berry led Danville runners in the senior boys race in 30th place, and Karl Hempel was 32nd. Nate Johnson and Dylan Crow were out of the top 50.
“It was a strong showing from all the seniors. We’re peaking at the right time of year,” Danville coach Chris Verhoven said. “I’m very impressed with my team, their times are all dropping at the right time, and hopefully we’re peaking at the right time of the season.”
Calvin Steber was 12th and Michael McChesney was 30th in the junior boys race, and Haley McCowan was 30th in the sophomore girls race. Clellan McMurry, Matt Wagner, Austin Barringer were out of the top 50 in the freshman boys race, but Verhoven said all three ran personal-best times, as did all of the senior boys.

Boyle girls second

At Louisville, the Boyle County girls finished second in the Metro Meet of Champions, five points behind first-place Sacred Heart.
Emma Ditto was third, Maddy Kriz was ninth and Nikki Coffey was 10th for Boyle in a strong field in the meet hosted by St. Xavier.
The Boyle boys were 12th, led by Taylor Jameson in 49th place.
“It was a great day to race, and we were glad to get out on a fast course. It was a good race to get geared up for our regional meet,” Boyle coach Grace Jameson said.
