Church to celebrate 50th anniversary

Harrodsburg Baptist Church will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the sanctuary building Sunday morning with a reception and worship service. The reception will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the church’s fellowship hall and feature a 45 minute video with interviews, information, facts and pictures. The Rev. Wayne Spivey invites all current and former church members, pastors, families and friends to attend. The former pastor, the Rev. Wallace Carrier, and his wife, Anne; former pastor Dr. W. Robert DeFoor, his wife, Sandy, and their family; and the family of late former pastor Clelland Gash, all plan to attend. Curtis Grider, the sanctuary construction superintendent from 1960 to 1961, and his wife also plan to attend.
During the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service, there will be a time to remember back 50 years when the building was planned, constructed and dedicated. This time will include a brief video of comments by the Rev. Carrier, now 94 years old. Those families of former members and those members who have passed away in the past 50 years will be remembered. The morning worship service will conclude the celebration.

Christmas bazaars

Junction City United Methodist Church — 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, the church plans to have its annual Christmas bazaar at the church on School Street. Handmade crafts, baked goods and Christmas items will be for sale. There will be a silent auction and a chili cook off beginning at 11 a.m. with prizes for the top three recipes. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available for dine in or carry out.

Junction City Christian Church — 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, the church will have a Christmas bazaar, chili luncheon and bake sale. The Gold Refinery will be there buying old gold. All proceeds will go to holiday programs for the needy.

Puppets

Hwy. 78 Full Gospel Deliverance Church —  7 p.m. Tuesday, Nelson Reynolds & Puppets will be at the church. For more information, call (606) 346-2542.


Good things to eat

Vision Church of Holiness — 8:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, the church will have an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. The menu includes choice of bacon or sausage and orange juice, coffee or milk. The cost is $5 per person. The church is at 704 Holiday drive. For more information, call (859) 324-6293.

McKinney Christian Church — 4-8 p.m. Nov. 11, the  Lydia’s Circle will have a soup supper. The cost is $5 and includes soup, sandwich, dessert and drink.


Special services and events

Trinity Episcopal Church — 6:15 p.m. Nov. 23, the church invites the community to worship and Holy Eucharist on Thanksgiving Eve.

Danville Church of God — 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the church will host Family and Friends Emphasis. Also this Sunday, join the congregation for the launch of Kidz Space children’s ministry at 10:30 a.m. for all kids. Kidz Space will have classes for junior, 3-5 and 6-12. The Kidz Space launch will have fun games, prizes and praise and worship. The church is at 516 S. Fourth St. Call the church at (859) 236-4018 for transportation or any questions.
