Kathleen Susan Bashaw Atkins, 59, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family Friday, Nov. 4. She was known to some as a “Million” and to others as their best friend, always so giving of her love and herself, always a kind word, found positive in everything even through her time of despair; to know her was to love her and truly have your life touched by one of God’s many angels. Although you will be missed beyond words, we know you reside within the Lord’s hands and this isn’t goodbye for we will see you again. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Thomas Bashaw and Sarah Hensley Bashaw. She is survived by blessed daughters Eva and husband Brandon Blevins, Becky Hatfield, and Cindy and husband Cecil Ashcraft. She was the best Nana to Blake, Aaron, McKayla, Emily, Darren and Daniel. She was also survived by very special sisters Linda and husband Billy Yarber, Barbara and husband Buck Pence, and Dorothy and husband Al Stokely; loving brothers Billy Bashaw, and Thomas and wife Ruth Bashaw; special nieces, Gina and husband Walter Martin, and Beth and husband George LaBeau; nephew Brian and wife Tina Martin; great-nephews Andrew, Ian, Alex, Gavin, Brandon, Micheal and Aric; and her family at Christ Community Church, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Services were at 8 p.m. Monday at Betts & West Funeral Home with the Rev. John Carroll. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Monday. www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com.
